The Vietnam War
Dates: November 1, 1955 - April 30, 1975
Causes: The causes of the war were because Vietnam was divided into 2 sides North Vietnam being a communist and South Vietnam being a democratic republic. The North was inspired by the Soviet and Chinese communist government, Ho Chi Minh formed the League of Independent Vietnam or (Viet Minh).
They took control of the northern city of Hanoi which was controlled by France. Because of this France wanted to take back that region so they helped back up Bao who ruled South Vietnam with Saigon as its capital. The United States supported South Vietnam because they could not allow North Vietnam to spread communism and wanted to persuade South Vietnam not to go to communism. But in the end the North won and Vietnam became a communist country. This war affected the people because after the North won they were harsh on the people of South Vietnam they made them do things such as labor. Because of this many people left Vietnam to find a better place.

Causes: The Korean war started when North Korea invaded South Korea this was the first battle during the Cold War. North Korea was a communist and was backed up by the Soviet Union while the South was backed by the United States. The United States helped because they saw the war as a battle against communism it self. To this day Korea is still divided at the 38 parallel. The war effected the lives of the people in many ways such as separating families from one another because Korea was divided and they could not leave the side they were on.
